We have a number of day trail rides through the backcountry of northeast Oregon that are very convenient by leaving our pasture gates. Another nice day ride is the ride that takes our guest to Couse Creek on a 14.5 mile easy backcountry ride. This trail uses that part of the Lincton Mountain trail, following Cashe Hollow Road (closed to vehicle traffic December 1-March 31) for 2.7 miles then vers off to the right at Kennear Road.
Scroll to below map for trail description. The red flag on this map is the McKuster Ranch location.

This ride begins by crossing Walla Walla River Road at our west pasture gate, and following Cashe Hollow Road (a very low traffic road -closed to vehicle travel Oct.1 through March 31) for 2.7 miles. At that intersection it meets Kennear Road and we turn the horse to the right. From here we follow Kennear Road for 1.5 miles to the junction with the Loop Road. Here you have your choice of traveling straight ahead to Couse Creek or verring to the left to Couse Creek. To ride to the left is just over a mile to Couse Creek Road. Couse Creek road is paved. To take a left at Couse Creek Road it is just over a mile to Blue Mountain Station Road and another 2 miles to Loop Road. Following Loop Road back to the junction at Kennear Road is almost 3.5 miles. If you take a right at Couse Creek Road, the road is unpaved and it is just over a mile to the dead end of the road at the bank of Couse Creek.
